It can also be used in fixed-voltage power supply mode with a user-configurable output of 10-35V. A host of electronic protection features guarantee the safety of your alternator and your battery, and physical protection is assured thanks to its P65 dust and water-proof rating. The unit is fully configurable via Bluetooth using the VictronConnect app and features a VE.Direct port for connection to a Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX. Multi-voltage use The Orion XS 1400's wide input and output voltage range enable it to be used with any combination of 12V & 24V systems on the input and output, making it suitable for a wide range of vehicles and auxiliary battery systems. The 50A charge current provides a maximum power output of 1400W @24V, and 700W @12V, and an unlimited number of units can be connected in parallel to increase the output (where alternator capacity allows). Smart alternator compatibility Regardless of the variable input voltage produce by smart alternators, the charger keeps operating and maintains the chosen algorithm for perfect battery charging. Alternator overload protection The input and output currents can be precisely controlled in increments of 0.1A using simple controls in the Victron Connect App. This input current control guards against alternators being overloaded (especially when using lithium batteries that can accept very high charge currents) and the output current control allows you to set the charge current to suit the type and capacity of battery being charged. Adaptive charge algorithm The Orion XS 1400 includes customisable charging algorithms and 8 pre-set battery modes. For lead acid batteries, these settings ensure optimal absorption times for both shallow and deep discharges. During shallow discharges of lead-acid batteries the absorption time must be kept short in order to prevent overcharging of the battery. After a deep discharge, the absorption time is automatically increased to make sure that the battery is completely recharged. Comprehensive electronic protection The Orion XS 1400 comes equipped with comprehensive electronic protection against overload, short circuit and excessive temperatures, and will automatically reduce the output power when maximum product temperature is reached. To prevent damaging lithium batteries the charger will turn off automatically at low temperatures, and to protect the starter battery from being over-discharged it will shut down when the input voltage drops below a configurable lockout value, and restart when the input voltage rises above the restart value.
